... Oh hey, you're that guy Yoo Joonghuk is always yelling at!

[ they've run into each other at the bookshop, and Albin, a birb once again, is preening Ulrika's hair. by which i mean he's trying to steal her bandanna and mess up her bangs ]

Haven't seen you around much, what brings you out here?

[ ..He doesn't know how he feels about being remembered as that. Sigh.

Jin, in her white-necked raven form, is perched on his shoulder with a curious tilt of her head. ]

Hoping to find some books to read. What about you?

Oh, me too! I'm trying to get some inspiration for some new recipes, but there's a bunch of stories I've never heard of before. Like... there's this fable about an alchemist that tried to use a couple of kids in her work in here.

[ Albin bursts into raucous laughter ]

New recipes? [ Curious. ] What is it that you do?

[ ..Ah? ] That sounds like an interesting fable.

[magichammer]

I'm an alchemist! And a way better one than the one in the story. Seriously, blind as a bat but still practicing without an assistant? Wasting time trying to fatten up a kid instead of just substituting with something else? I don't know how she managed to build that fancy alchemical house, but she must've done it when she was younger and less stupid.

[ Albin's laugh just keeps going, even after Ulrika lightly bops him on the beak ]

Sometimes, as you grow older you do start to become less competent. [ An alchemist, though. ] Have you made anything so far here?

[ Jin just ruffles her feathers and slumps a little into her perch, seeming more relaxed now to be discussing something like this. Better than the other troubles that have been happening lately. ]

Hmmm... that'd make sense! Still, it's a shame - a house made entirely of candy that lasted that long... the alchemist must've planned every detail out!

[ Ulrika would try to do it in a heartbeat. it would probably cave in because she forgot a key support beam ]

Not yet, but I will soon! I made a deal with one of the Watchers - I help out here and there, and then I get to make a few items.

[ Albin finally stops laughing and goes back to playing with her hair. alchemy talk isn't usually something he laughs at, but it's also boring. ]

[ To have forgotten an important peppermint candy cane support beam and thus crash the candy house inwards, what a short-lived dream that would be for Ulrika. ]

Ah, so you're working with them by doing some exchanges. It's worth the effort I think.

[ Jin seems to croon lowly, agreeing with the thought apparently. ] Well, hope you manage to find some ideas. There's quite a variety of books. [ He's found a few interesting ones. ]

[ short-lived, and very typical for her ]

Is there anyone that isn't trying for an exchange?

[ like, really. it's (mostly) free powers?

hand trailing over some of the spines, Ulrika is about to ask for a recommendation, when her hand hits a shard tucked away in the bookcase. man, who left that there? oh well, better skip the long fight and stop at 1:59:30. surely that's what whoever left it there would want. ]

Suppose if they don't have much to ask for.

[ And then such a memory takes him away... it's. A lot to take in? There's no telling how long or short a memory can be, and by this point, he feels he's seen it all. When he recovers, he tries to think of the story over. ]

Well... you had quite an interesting group with you. [ A lot different compared to the cast here, that's for sure. ]

I know, I know, Pepperoni and Goto are total weirdos.

[ somehow implying that anyone else on the team isn't weird, much less Ulrika herself ]

But I guess they're pretty reliable in their own way?

There's always a strange one here and there.

[ Definietely more than two. ]

Even the worst kind of people can be useful one way or another. [ He's wary to take a single step, those glasses... ] But it's better to have people you can rely on and watch your back for you. ..Suppose it's a bit harder to do that here with unfamiliar faces.

"Useful"? Hmm... I guess that's one way to look at things, but it seems kinda cold.

[ then again, Ulrika's more likely to be the useful tool in such a scenario ]

Besides, we've already been living together for a couple weeks! I'm pretty sure I can count on everyone here - aren't you?
